You’re right, the American one was genuinely terrible. At least, when you compare a barrage of voice acting to Utada Hikaru belting out Fly Me to the Moon.
I’d still go see it.
And as for anime becoming mainstream, in some of the children-aimed commercials I’ve caught on my way to the kitchen, there is a pseudo-anime style going on, then there’s Avatar, and there were the anime-devoted time blocks on some TV stations.
Milk the cash cow! Next thing you know, panty shots and cleavage will be acceptable!
That song in the first one is damn catchy though. Also, I miss good Toonami, before it was just Naruto.
